Koraput, June 5: The investigation into the tragic deaths of six individuals at Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital in Koraput, allegedly due to the administration of a wrong injection, remains ongoing. Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, during a visit to the hospital on Thursday, assured that stringent action would be taken against those found responsible once the final report is submitted.
Arriving at the hospital at around 10:30 AM, the Minister toured various wards, interacted with patients and their families, and assessed the situation firsthand. He later held a high-level review meeting with a five-member state-level inquiry committee, Koraput District Collector V. Kritibas, College Superintendent Professor Sushant Sahu, and senior doctors.
Speaking to the media after the review, Mahaling described the incident as deeply concerning. He stated that his visit was carried out under the directive of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, underscoring the seriousness of the matter. “Post-mortem reports will be thoroughly examined, and if the expert committee’s findings confirm negligence, strict disciplinary action will follow,” the Minister said.
In addition to addressing the immediate issue, the Minister also emphasized the need to fill vacant doctor posts at the medical college to avoid similar lapses in the future.
