Thunderstorm alerts for coastal and northern districts
Odisha residents should prepare for isolated thunderstorms and lightning across several northern and coastal districts over the next 24 hours. Regional Meteorological Centre Bhubaneswar has issued a yellow warning for regions including Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Kataka. This alert remains valid until Monday morning, signaling potential weather disruptions. October weather in these region often brings swift shifts between intense heat and sudden evening thunderstorms due to lingering post-monsoon moisture.
Recent rainfall and predicted showers
Scattered rainfall will likely accompany these stormy conditions. Current meteorological models indicate up to 25 percent spatial coverage for light showers across coastal stretches and select interior pockets. This includes districts like Khordha, Puri, Ganjam, and Gajapati. In the past 24 hours, local observatories recorded the highest rainfall of 12.0 mm in Bhuban within the Dhenkanal district. Paralakhemundi in Gajapati followed closely with 8.6 mm, while Patamundai in Kendrapara received 6.8 mm of rain.
Stable temperatures forecast for upcoming week
Looking at temperature trends, meteorologists predict stable conditions for the upcoming week. Both daytime maximums and nighttime minimums will see no significant changes over the next six to seven days across Odisha. Paralakhemundi registered the state's highest daytime temperature at 36.2 degrees Celsius. Interestingly, the same town, along with Sundargarh, recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 20.0 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar experienced a maximum of 34.8 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.8 degrees Celsius without any rainfall. Citizens in the warned districts are advised to stay alert during lightning events. While heavy downpours are not expected, sudden electrical storms require basic safety precautions. Agricultural activities might need brief adjustments to ensure worker safety, though the overall stable temperature forecast offers some relief for daily outdoor operations across the state.
