Dhaka, Aug 13: In July, Bangladesh's inflation surged to a 12-year high of 11.66 percent, driven by significant unrest stemming from widespread student protests against a controversial job quota system, according to the country's Bureau of Statistics.
The previous month's inflation rate was 9.72 percent, as reported by The Dhaka Tribune.
Data released on Monday by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics revealed that food inflation in July hit a record high of 14.10 percent, while non-food inflation stood at 9.68 percent. In comparison, June's food and non-food inflation rates were 10.42 percent and 9.15 percent, respectively.
