As part of World Breastfeeding Week, the state government announced plans to open such centres in government offices, grievance redressal venues, bus stands, railway stations, markets, and haats. The first centre has already been inaugurated at the Women’s Commission, and two dedicated websites have been launched by the Women and Child Development Department.
Parida stressed that 75% of malls must have toilets and breastfeeding facilities, warning that lack of basic amenities can affect women's health. She added that this is a call for cooperation, not charity, and assured government support if private establishments fail to provide such infrastructure. A public welfare app has also been launched to boost citizen participation.
