Bhubaneswar, Dec 21: Eminent Odia poet Ashutosh Parida and Sanskrit poet Arun Ranjan Mishra have been selected for prestigious Kendra Sahitya Akademi Award for the year 2023.
Parida has been selected for his poetry collection, “Aprastuta Mrutyu’ (Unprepared Death) and Mishra for his poetry book “Sunye Meghaganam”.
The organisation announced 24 recipients of Sahitya Akademi Awards 2023 on Wednesday.
The awardees will receive the award in the form of a casket containing an engraved copper-plaque, a shawl and an amount of Rs 1 lakh.
Parida was born in February 1946 in Kendrapara. He completed BTech from erstwhile REC, Rourkela and received his PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. He retired as a scientist of CSIR in 2005.
Parida has written 11 poetry collections. He was awarded Odisha Sahitya Akademy Award in 1990 for poetry collection “Ipsita Krodha”.
Mishra was born in Khordha district on January 2, 1959. Now he is working as a literature professor at Santiniketan. His four books have been published.
The authors and poets will receive the award at a ceremony on March 12 next year at Kamani Auditorium.
