‘Water Bell’ system introduced in Odisha schools to beat heat waves

Bhubaneswar, April 4: Odisha government on Thursday introduced ‘Water Bell’ system in all schools across the State in view of managing soaring heat waves.

In order to prompt for due hydration, the ‘Water Bell’ system will be a joyful approach for the students, to intake sufficient water periodically during the school hours.

The School and Mass Education department has written to the District Education Officers in this connection, to ensure implementation of the Water Bell system in all schools across the state.

The Water Bell system works on ringing the school-bell thrice in a day at 8.30 AM, 10 AM and 11 AM during periods in order to prompt students to drink water.

Teachers will ensure that students must drink plenty of water during the interval, prompted by the Water Bell.

Apart from it, the SME Dept. has asked to school authorities to encourage for using caps and umbrellas to stay safe from sunstroke-like situations.
