New Delhi, July 27: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to honour former President and renowned space scientist Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, as the party's Minority Morcha plans to launch a nationwide campaign on July 27 to mark his ninth death anniversary. This initiative aims to pay tribute to Kalam, who is widely regarded as an icon among Pasmanda Muslims, through a series of district-level programmes.
Jamal Siddiqui, head of the BJP's Minority Morcha, stated that the party has consistently celebrated Kalam's birth and death anniversaries. This year's observances come despite a perceived consolidation of minority voters against the BJP in the 2024 elections.
On July 27, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Kalam Memorial, with BJP national president JP Nadda expected to attend as the chief guest. Similar events are planned across the country, where wreaths will be laid at Kalam's statues or portraits in various districts.
The campaign will also include a medical camp and a social media initiative, the "Yuva Udhyami Award," which seeks to recognise and reward five young entrepreneurs from each state. Nominations for the award will be open until August 6, with the winners announced on August 12.
Through these efforts, the BJP aims to commemorate the legacy of Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, highlighting his contributions to the nation and inspiring the younger generation.
