Bhubaneswar, July 25: The Dhauli police in Bhubaneswar arrested a former Airman on Thursday in connection with the suicide of his wife Madhusmita Parida who was a working Journalist.
The accused has been identified as Shridhar Jena, a resident of the Lingipur area in Bhubaneswar City.
Police sources said, that Madhusmita allegedly committed suicide at Sahid Nagar railway over bridge a while ago by jumping before a running train. Earlier before her suicide bid, she had made her ordeal viral on social media wherein she featured her husband’s atrocity and held him responsible for the extreme step.
Acting on the complaint lodged by Madhusmita’s family members, the police initiated an investigation into the matter. During the investigation, it was revealed that Jena who was a divorcee, had married Madhusmita in March 2024, following a five-year live-in relationship. However, a marital discord broke out between the newlyweds, as Madhusmita discovered his husband’s extramarital affairs with several women from his cell phone.
Following this, Jena allegedly ostracised Madhusmita from her post-marriage rights and began physical and mental torture on her. Getting no way out, Madhusmita killed herself leaping off the railway over bridge whose mutilated body was recovered from the railway track by the police.
