Qualified candidates can now apply online for various sailor positions

Aspiring sailors across India, including those from Odisha, have a fresh chance to serve the nation. The Indian Navy has officially invited online applications for the Agniveer SSR, MR, and SSR (Medical) positions for the 2027 batches. Interested individuals can submit their forms starting from March 14, 2026, with the registration window closing on April 06, 2026.

Key Dates for Your Calendar

Prospective candidates should mark their calendars to avoid missing out. Following the registration period, a brief correction window will be available from April 10 to April 11. The much-awaited Indian Navy Entrance Test (INET) 2026 is tentatively scheduled for May 2026. Results are expected to follow shortly after, likely between late May and June.

Educational Standards and Age Limits

Different roles within the Navy require specific academic backgrounds. If you are eyeing the Agniveer MR role, a Class 10 pass with at least 50% marks is necessary. For the SSR post, you must have completed Class 12 with Physics and Mathematics. Those interested in the SSR (Medical) track need a Class 12 qualification focusing on Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.

Regarding age, candidates generally need to be born between late 2004 and late 2009. Specifically, the 01/2027 batch targets those born between December 1, 2004, and May 31, 2009.

Understanding the Selection Journey

Navigating the recruitment process involves several hurdles designed to find the best fit for the sea.

  • Initial Screening: This starts with the computer-based INET 2026.
  • Physical Testing: Candidates must pass a 1.6 km run, squats, and push-ups.
  • Final Evaluation: This includes a written exam, document checks, and a medical review.

Training at INS Chilka

Successful recruits will eventually head to Odisha for their professional training. INS Chilka serves as the premier basic training establishment where new Agniveers transform into disciplined sailors. This phase is crucial for building the physical and mental stamina required for life at sea.

Application Fees and Process

Every applicant is required to pay a fee of Rs 550 during the online registration. It is vital to ensure all documents are scanned correctly before uploading them to the official portal.
