Bhubaneswar, Sept 3: The anti-corruption vigilance officers on Tuesday arrested Dharanidhar Nayak, deputy director of mines, for allegedly amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income, according to an official statement.
Nayak, who was serving as the deputy director of mines in Talcher, was found to possess significant assets including two multi-storey buildings, a 3-BHK flat valued at Rs 1.30 crore, and a duplex covering over 1,800 square feet in Bhubaneswar. Additionally, he held two market complexes with 19 shops, 11 plots, deposits totaling Rs 53.53 lakh, household items worth Rs 54.70 lakh, and over Rs 9.85 lakh in cash.
Nayak began his tenure as a mining officer in Koraput in 2014 and was later transferred to Talcher in 2021, where he was promoted to the rank of deputy director of mining.
