Bhubaneswar, June 21: In a disturbing incident, Mancheswar Police in Bhubaneswar on Saturday rescued two minor siblings, a boy and a girl, who were allegedly subjected to abuse and neglect by their grandmother.

The children were allegedly being tortured by their paternal grandmother following the death of their mother and rescued from their residence in JJP Colony in Bhubaneswar.
As per reports, the children's mother passed away about a month ago. Since then, their father has been struggling with his mental health and couldn't take care of them. During this time, the children were left with their grandmother, who is accused of physically abusing them.
It is said that the grandmother not only beat the children but also locked them in a room for several days and didn’t give them enough food for over five days. Neighbors, worried about the children's cries and poor health, alerted the authorities.
Acting swiftly, the Mancheswar Police rushed to the spot and rescued the children from the house.
A probe has been launched into the matter and necessary action will follow. Efforts are also underway to explore long-term care and rehabilitation options for the rescued children, said the police.
