Balangir, Mar 14: Special Judge, Vigilance, Balangir on Thursday convicted Satyanarayan Kumura, Ex-Revenue Inspector of Mahalei Revenue Circle under Deogaon Tahasil in Bolangir, at present working as RI of Telenpali under Khaprakhol Tahasil in Bolangir for demanding and accepting bribe.
Kumura was earlier charge-sheeted by Odisha Vigilance for accepting bribe from a complainant for submitting enquiry report in respect of genealogy report of the land of his relative.
He was sentenced to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 4 years and fine of Rs.2,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months more for the offence.
The Court further sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 years and fine of Rs.2,000/- and in default of payment of fine, to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 months more. Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
The convict Sri Satyanarayan Kumura was sent to jail custody to serve his sentence. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for dismissal of service following his conviction.
