Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Odisha State Human Rights Commission (OSHRC) has taken suo motu cognisance of the Puri Rath Yatra stampede that claimed three devotees’ lives on Saturday.
The Commission issued notices to the Puri District Collector and Superintendent of Police (SP) on Monday, seeking a detailed report in this connection.
In its directive, the Commission asked the state government to provide adequate medical treatment to the injured ones.
Apart from it, the Commission emphasised the need for robust planning and crowd management for the forth coming Bahuda and Niladribije rituals.
