Bhubaneswar, Oct 17: Preparations for Ravan Dahan are gathering pace in Bhubaneswar as the capital gears up for Dussehra 2026. The burning of Ravana’s effigy on Vijayadashami symbolises the victory of good over evil and remains one of the major attractions of the festival.
Although the police have not yet made an official announcement regarding this year’s permissions, preliminary information suggests that five locations-Barmunda, Bankual, Koradakanta, Nayapalli and Sundarpada-Kapilaprasad have finalised plans for Ravan Dahan.
At Bankual, the Sarbajanina Durga Puja Samiti is preparing a 62-foot-tall Ravana effigy near the riverbank at the Bali Yatra ground. The effigy will be set ablaze on Vijayadashami.
