Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association has vehemently condemned the shocking assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo, demanding swift and stringent action against those responsible.
The incident occurred on Monday during a public grievance redressal meeting, when miscreants reportedly stormed into Shri Sahoo’s office, assaulted him, and allegedly attempted to abduct him. The brazen attack has triggered widespread outrage among the administrative community.
In response, the OAS Association convened an emergency meeting the same day to discuss the alarming rise in attacks on government officials. Expressing serious concern, the Association called upon the state government and police to initiate a thorough investigation and bring all culprits to justice without delay.
“Violence against public servants committed to serving the people is intolerable,” the Association stated in an official release. “We urge the authorities to take exemplary action against the offenders to reaffirm that such lawless acts will face zero tolerance.”
The Association also stressed the urgent need to enhance security for government officers, especially those regularly engaged in field duties or public interaction. Members highlighted the growing threats faced by officials and called for a comprehensive review of existing safety protocols.
Reiterating its commitment to protecting its members, the OAS Association announced it would closely monitor the investigation and pursue the matter vigorously with the government. It also signaled the possibility of future protests or formal representations if concrete action is not taken swiftly.
