Bhubaneswar, June 30: The Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) Association has strongly condemned the assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo and has announced a statewide mass leave by its members starting tomorrow.

The decision follows a shocking incident that took place on Monday during a public grievance redressal meeting, where a group of miscreants allegedly stormed into Mr. Sahoo’s office, physically assaulted him, and reportedly attempted to abduct him. The audacious attack has sparked widespread outrage among government officials across the state.

In response, the OAS Association convened an emergency meeting and unanimously decided to protest the incident by going on mass leave. The Association has demanded immediate and stringent action against all individuals involved in the assault, including their prompt arrest.

“Violence against public servants who are dedicated to serving the people is unacceptable and must be dealt with sternly,” the Association stated in an official release. “We urge the state government and law enforcement agencies to take exemplary action to ensure such acts do not recur.”

The Association also emphasized the growing vulnerability of officers engaged in fieldwork and public-facing roles, calling for a comprehensive review and strengthening of safety measures for government personnel.

Reaffirming its commitment to the welfare and security of its members, the OAS Association warned that further protests or formal representations could follow if decisive action is not taken promptly. The body said it would closely monitor the progress of the investigation and continue to engage with the government until justice is delivered.
