Bhubaneswar, March 11: A rare male wallaby which was almost the centre of attraction for the visitors of Nandankanan Zoo in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar died on Monday due to unidentified ailments.
The Kangaroo-like animal succumbed to the unascertained disease this afternoon while the rare species of mammal was undergoing treatment by a team of veterinarians led by the OUAT doctors.
Following the death of the animal, the carcass was referred to the OUAT Livestock hospital for autopsy.
Worth mentioning, a pair of wallabies, one male and another female, were inducted into the Nandankanan Zoo on December 23 last year. They were procured from a private organisation in Hyderabad.
With the death of the male wallaby, Nandankanan Zoo is now left with alone female wallaby.
