Bhubaneswar, July 12: The Odisha Government has stepped in to bear the full cost of medical treatment for the girl student from F.M. (Autonomous) College, Balasore, who is currently battling for her life at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar after allegedly attempting self-immolation. The extreme step was reportedly taken in response to alleged misbehaviour by the head of her department.
The Higher Education Department has formally written to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar, requesting that the student receive all necessary medical care and that her family members be provided accommodation. The department has assured that the State Government will cover all related expenses.
In the letter, the department described the incident as tragic and stated that the State is committed to supporting the student and her family throughout the recovery process. The government will also bear the cost of accommodation for her family members, who are currently staying at a dharmashala near the hospital.
Authorities at AIIMS have been urged to treat the case with top priority and ensure the victim receives all required medical attention without delay.
