Bhubaneswar, July 12: Commissionerate Police today arrested a nightclub owner and two of his associates on charges of molesting a woman DJ at a hotel in Bhubaneswar yesterday.
The victim lodged a complaint leading to the arrests.
The arrested individuals are Raghunath Sahu (30), owner of Club Leo at Raghunathpur, and his alleged accomplices, Anand Sethi (27) and Sweta Salony (21).
According to the complaint filed with Nandankanan police, the victim was booked by Club Leo to perform as a DJ on July 11. After her performance, the club arranged a room for her at Hotel Purple Leaf in Raghunathpur. A separate room was also booked for Sahu at the same hotel.
The victim reported that she was invited to dinner with Sahu in his hotel room. Upon entering, she observed Sahu, his two aides, consuming liquor and smoking. When she attempted to leave, Sahu's associates allegedly blocked her exit, demanding she spend the night with Sahu and threatening her life if she refused.
It is alleged that Sahu then molested her as she tried to escape, and his aides attempted to strangle her. Fortunately, she managed to flee and contact an emergency helpline, subsequently reporting the incident to the police.
Following an investigation, police arrested Sahu and his two associates. They have been charged under Sections 64(2)(f), 62, 109(1), and 3(5) of the BNS.
