Bhubaneswar, Aug 21: The Vigilance sleuths today arrested Ramesh Chandra Sahoo, former BDO of Narayanpatna in Koraput district from New Delhi.
Sahoo, wanted in seven corruption cases was absconding since 2015. Officials said that Sahoo is being produced in Delhi court and he will be brought to Odisha under transit remand.
Officials said that during the last 8 years, Sahoo kept changing locations residing in rental accommodations in Delhi and neighboring areas. “He also fled to Jorhat in Assam to evade arrest. Recently, he returned to Delhi from Assam. Based on inputs, a team was stationed to pinpoint his location, after which he was nabbed today,” said the official.
The state government in March 2015 had suspended Sahoo for allegedly embezzling Rs 47 lakh meant for development projects in the block.
During an inquiry, the Koraput administration found complicity of Sahu and eight other block officials of Narayanpatna in the misappropriation.
