Paradeep, Dec 11: A group of fishermen have caught 17 Telia Borehi fish weighing three quintals in sea off the coast of Paradip in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district on Sunday.
According to sources, a group of fishermen had gone to the deep sea for fishing while they caught these 17 fishes and on bringing them to the boat, they identified those as the telia fishes which used to sell at high price for its medicinal and other values. However, a Kolkata based company has auctioned the 17 fishes of Rs 25 Lakh.
It may be noted that the Telia fish is a rare fish that is found in the sea this time of the year. The fish has high demand among pharmaceutical and cosmetic companies as the valuable fish contains plenty of oil in its intestines, which is often exported and used to make drugs.
