Bhubaneswar, Oct 7: Persons with disabilities (PWD)s employed with Odisha government alleged that they are yet to get quota in promotions despite the Supreme Court's order for 4 percent reservation for them in promotions.
While other states and union territories have implemented the promotion quota for disabled employees, the Odisha government has failed to bring an appropriate resolution on 4 percent reservation in promotion for persons with benchmark disabilities. Hence, hundreds of employees are deprived of their rights, alleged Odisha Viklang Manch.
Besides, the Odisha government in 2013 had promised 3 percent reservation in promotion for persons with disabilities through Department of General Administration & Public Grievance.
Chief Minister had announced December 3 as International Day of Disabled Persons. However, due to negligence of certain officials the disabled employees are deprived of their rights, the manch alleged.
Notably, the reservation in promotion for persons with disabilities was implemented in 1996, but yet to effective in Odisha.
