Bhubaneswar, May 13: In the upcoming second phase of Lok Sabha elections in Odisha, the Bolangir constituency has drawn attention due to the significant wealth of its candidates.
Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, the BJP MP candidate from Bolangir, owns assets worth a staggering ₹67 crore. Her wealth includes both immovable property ₹59 crore and Movable property ₹7 crore
She is one of the wealthiest candidates in this election.
Dilip Tirkey, the BJD MP candidate from Sundargarh, possesses assets worth ₹12.26 crore. He has immoveable property worths about ₹10.10 crore and movable property ₹2.02 crore.
Jual Oram, another BJP candidate from Sundargarh, has assets valued at ₹8.63 crore. He owns immoveable property of ₹5.83 crore and movable property of ₹2.79 crore.
On the other end of the spectrum, Debika Sikka (National Apana Party) contesting from Baragarh Lok Sabha constituency, owns only ₹10,222. She is the poorest among the Lok Sabha candidates in this phase.
Balaram Shaw, an independent candidate from Bolangir Lok Sabha, has assets amounting to just ₹30,000.He does not possess any immovable property or a house.
The Association for Democratic Reform (ADR) has evaluated the properties, education, and criminal antecedents of 40 candidates in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Odisha. Among these candidates, 13 are crorepati (multi-millionaires) according to their declared assets.
The second phase of elections will be held in five Lok Sabha constituencies (Aska, Baragarh, Bolangir, Kandhamal, and Sundargarh) It’s interesting to see the diverse financial backgrounds of the candidates vying for these seats.
