Bhubaneswar, Feb 5: The budget session of Odisha Assembly commenced on Monday with the address of Governor Raghubar Das. From the beginning, Governor Das paid tributes to the deceased former members and also paid tributes to the martyred jawans.
During his address to the House in Hindi, Governor Das highlighted the positive impact of the Puri Heritage Corridor project on the facilities for devotees. The initiative is expected to contribute towards the security measures for the protection of the Srimandir. Governor Das also emphasized the rapid progress of the Ekramra project, focusing on the development of the Lingaraj temple.
According to the Odisha Governor, the state government has designated tourism as a 'focus sector.' A comprehensive master plan, with an estimated expenditure of Rs 1768 crore, has been devised for the enhancement of 15 prominent tourist sites. Additionally, Rs 244 crore has been allocated for the improvement of tourist infrastructure across 136 sites, following public proposals.
The Oppsition Congress staged a walkout protesting the Governor's address which highlighted various achievements of the government.
