Bhubaneswar, June 11: Mohan Charan Majhi, a four-time MLA from Keonjhar, has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Odisha by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). 

Majhi is a firebrand tribal leader hailing from the mineral-rich Kendujhar district.

Despite his humble background, he has made significant contributions to Odisha’s political landscape.

In the just concluded Odisha Assembly elections, Majhi secured victory in the Keonjhar assembly constituency by a margin of 11,000 votes.

His performance as an MLA has been noteworthy, earning him the trust of voters.

After the BJP’s victory in Odisha, Majhi expressed gratitude to Lord Jagannath and the 4.5 crore Odias.

He acknowledged the people’s decision to vote for change and bring the BJP to power, emphasizing that the party would honor their trust.

Majhi is considered a non-controversial figure within the BJP.

His strong organizational skills and loyalty to the party have contributed to his rise within its ranks.

Majhi has served as the Chief Whip of the BJP Legislative Party.

His extensive work in the Odisha state unit and his strong RSS link demonstrate his commitment to the party’s cause.

Majhi started his political career as Sarapancha and connected with the masses, particularly in tribal regions.

His ability to resonate with people has earned him respect and influence.

Majhi’s appointment as Odisha’s Chief Minister marks a significant milestone for the BJP in the state. He will take the oath of office on June 12, 2024. The BJP’s victory, winning 78 out of 147 seats, ended Naveen Patnaik’s 24-year rule in Odisha
