Rourkela, Jan 2: A New Year celebration took a tragic turn after a man was allegedly shot dead his younger brother in Bisra area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Khirodhar Singh (26), a resident of Teterkela.
As per reports, Khirodhar and his friends had arranged a feast near Teterkela Square on the occasion of the New Year when his elder brother Umesh Singh arrived at the scene and opened fire at him.
Though the exact reason behind the killing is yet to be ascertained, it is suspected that it might be fallout of a family dispute.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the spot and recovered the body. Subsequently, it was sent for post-mortem.
Police have detained four persons including Umesh for questioning in this connection.
Further investigation into the matter is underway, said the police.
