Angul, June 8: In another incident of human-animal conflict, an elderly woman was trampled to death by a wild jumbo this morning. The incident occurred at Amlabereni village under Kishorenagar block in Odisha’s Angul district.
The deceased woman has been identified as Asha Dehuri of the village.
According to the sources, the wild elephant trampled Dehuri and killed on spot while she had gone to collect mangoes to the nearest jungle. While trying to run away, the jumbo kicked her to the ground and pressed her head under its feet.
Some locals spotted her body lying in a pool of blood and informed the forest officials in this regard. The villagers have also demanded adequate compensation to the family of the deceased.
The body has been sent for autopsy.
