Sonepur, May 27: Sonepur Police on Monday seized an iron rod-laden container which was carrying a huge cache of ganja from Odisha to Madhya Pradesh.
At least 3.75 quintal of ganja and the container were seized whereas two inter-state peddlers were held in this connection.
Sources said, the Sonepur police at late night on Monday were conducting blocking and checking in the Sonepur town. Meanwhile, they stopped an iron- rod laden container out of suspicion. As many as 15 bundles of ganja stuffed in poly packets were recovered from the vehicle.
Following this, the contraband was sent to the malkhana, the vehicle was seized and the two accused identified as Bijoy Gavei and Binod Manchi, both are from Madhya Pradesh.
The two accused are professional ganja traffickers and are having multiple cases and criminal antecedents in different parts of the nation ,said SP Sonepur, Yaspratap Srimal.
