Bhubaneswar, July 25: Heavy rainfall will lash several parts of Odisha during the next 24 hours due to active southwest monsoon, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Thursday.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Khurda, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sambalpur, Bargarh and heavy Rainfall (7 to 11cm) is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Nuapada, Bolangir, Boudh, Kandhamal, Malkangiri, Koraput, Nawarangpur, Deogarh, Sonepur, Balasore,Jajpur, Puri during the next 24 hours, the IMD said.
Light to moderate rainfall has occurred at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha with very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district of Bargarh and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sambalpur and Bargarh, the mid-day bulletin said.
Weather experts attributed the current rainfall activity in Odisha to the cyclonic circulation over Jharkhand and neighbourhood.
