New Delhi, Feb 20: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his heartfelt wishes to the people of Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram on their respective Statehood Days, lauding their rich cultural heritage and the significant contributions of their citizens towards the nation's development.

In his message for Arunachal Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi praised the state's majestic landscapes and cultural diversity. He acknowledged the spirited and industrious citizens of Arunachal Pradesh, emphasizing their vital role in strengthening the nation’s progress. "Blessed with majestic landscapes and an extraordinary cultural diversity, Arunachal Pradesh stands as a shining example of harmony between tradition and nature. Its spirited and industrious citizens play a vital role in strengthening the nation's progress. At the same time, the state's diverse tribal ethos adds immense richness to our nation. May the state continue to scale new heights of development in the times to come," said PM Modi.

Arunachal Pradesh, often referred to as 'The Land of the Rising Sun,' shares borders with Bhutan, China, and Myanmar. Its unique geographical location makes it strategically important. The state achieved its statehood on February 20, 1987, after transitioning from the North Eastern Frontier Agency (NEFA) to a Union Territory in 1972.

Prime Minister Modi also greeted the people of Mizoram on their Statehood Day, commending the state's strong community spirit and the kindness and compassion of its people. "Greetings to the people of Mizoram on their Statehood Day. Mizoram is widely known for its striking natural beauty and enduring cultural traditions. Its strong community spirit and gracious people embody values of kindness and compassion. The rich Mizo heritage, expressed through tradition, music and other aspects of everyday life, is very inspiring. May Mizoram advance on the path of growth and achieve new milestones in the years ahead," PM Modi said in his message on social media platform X.

Mizoram, known for its scenic beauty and cultural diversity, became the 23rd state of India on February 20, 1987, a significant milestone in its journey from Union Territory to a full-fledged state.

On this special occasion, PM Modi expressed hope that both states continue their journey of growth, contributing significantly to India's progress.
