Bhubaneswar, September 21: Odia model Shubham Kumar Das, who hails from Cuttack, has made a mark on the international fashion stage, walking the runway at New York Fashion Week and earning a feature in the prestigious Forbes magazine.

Currently based in Chicago, Shubham has been in the spotlight for his distinctive fashion looks, personality and modelling skills. Forbes recently featured his photograph in its fashion roundup highlighting notable looks from NYFW SS27.
Shubham made his New York Fashion Week debut on September 12, walking the runway for designer Diana Maharaj Kochhar. His appearance at the event marked an important milestone in his modelling career.
Born in Cuttack, Shubham comes from a family of engineers. Although he initially dreamed of becoming a doctor and went to Kota for medical entrance preparation, his interest gradually shifted towards fashion and modelling.
He began learning different modelling techniques through YouTube and worked consistently on physical training, diet, skincare, communication skills and presentation. In 2017, he made his first appearance on a magazine cover, marking the beginning of his journey in the fashion industry.
Shubham also pursued his academic interests and graduated in Prosthetics and Orthotics from SVNIRTAR, Olatpur. During his career, he participated in various auditions, shoots and fashion shows.
In 2022-23, he pursued a Master of Science in Management at a public university in the United States while also being involved in teaching. This resulted in a nearly three-year break from his modelling career.

He returned to modelling in Chicago in 2025 and is currently associated with five modelling agencies in the United States. He was also selected as one of three models from among around 400 candidates for a popular fashion show in Chicago.
Apart from runway appearances, Shubham has also featured in four live television fashion segments. His journey from Cuttack to the international fashion circuit is now bringing recognition to Odisha's growing presence in the global fashion industry.
