Puri, Aug 23: The empty cupboards and treasure chests from the Ratna Bhandar of Puri's Srimandir are set to be relocated to a room adjacent to the Niladri Vihar temple museum on August 23. This significant move will begin at 1 pm and is expected to impact the regular schedule of temple rituals and public darshan, which will be temporarily suspended until the process is complete.
The decision to relocate the empty cupboards and chests comes after the treasures from the Ratna Bhandar were moved to temporary strong rooms following its opening in July. However, the almirahs and chests, which are larger than the treasury door, could not be moved earlier, prompting the Temple Managing Committee to seek additional Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for their transfer.
Once the relocation is completed, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) will conduct an inspection of the Ratna Bhandar to check for any hidden compartments and perform any necessary repairs to ensure the security and integrity of the temple treasury.
