ECI Orders Candidates to Stay in Constituencies During Polling in West Bengal

Kolkata, April 22:The Election Commission (EC) has instructed all candidates contesting in the West Bengal assembly elections to remain within their respective constituencies from 6 a.m. on April 23, the start of the first phase of voting, until the conclusion of the polling. This directive was confirmed by a senior EC official on Wednesday.

Polling will take place across 152 constituencies in 16 districts of Bengal on Thursday. The EC's guidelines stipulate that candidates must stay within their constituencies during voting hours and refrain from participating in any activities that might disturb the electoral process. The move aims to ensure a smooth and orderly election.
