Domestic equity benchmarks start Samvat 2083 with cautious optimism
Indian equity markets marked the beginning of Samvat 2083 with restrained trading activity on Sunday evening. Market participants adopted a selective approach, preferring cautious optimism over heavy buying. The Nifty 50 index concluded the special one-hour session marginally lower by 0.03 percent, successfully defending the crucial 25,000 psychological level to settle at 25,023.70. Conversely, the BSE Sensex managed a modest gain of 0.10 percent, finishing at 81,109.86. Special Diwali sessions historically invite symbolic investments rather than heavy institutional portfolio shifts.
Sectoral performance and standout stocks
Divi's Laboratories emerged as a major bright spot during the evening, surging seven percent following a strong second-quarter profit report. Tata Steel also registered gains of three percent. Despite these individual rallies, the broader sentiment remained measured. Experts noted that investors chose to book partial profits following a sharp 8.5 percent weekly rally that had previously pushed indices to eight-month highs.

Key technical levels for upcoming sessions
Technical analysts identify 24,600 as the immediate support zone for the Nifty 50, while strong resistance persists near 25,200. Traders are closely monitoring global cues, crude oil price fluctuations, and foreign fund flow dynamics. Future market momentum will largely depend on corporate earnings stability and domestic consumption trends as the new Hindu calendar year progresses.
