Bhubaneswar, Sep 4: In a bid to facilitate free flow of traffic and better convenience of the general public, the Commissionerate Police has restricted the plying of heavy vehicles on the National Highway (NH) and State Highway (SH) in the twin cities of the Cuttack and Bhubaneswar.
An order in this effect was today published by the Commissionerate Police banning the movement of goods carriers (six or more wheeler trucks and trailers) between 5PM to 7.30PM.
Huge traffic congestion occurs especially in evening hours i.e. from 5 PM to 7.30 PM on the NH and SH, from Cosmopolis Chhak to Hanspal Chhak in Bhubaneswar and Sikharpur Chhak, to Madhupatana Chhak in Cuttack, for which general public are facing lots of problems.
“No goods carriers (6 or more wheeler trucks and trailers) will be allowed to ply on the roads within the city limits of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack i.e. from Pitapalli towards Bhubaneswar and Manguli towards Cuttack from 5 PM to 7.30 PM. However, goods carriers engaged in essential and emergency duty will be excluded from the purview of the above order,” read the order. The order will come into effect from September 5.
