Bhubaneswar, Jul 1: The Odisha Administrative Service Association (OASA) has called off its planned mass leave for today after receiving assurances from Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi regarding strict action against those responsible for the assault on Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) Additional Commissioner Ratnakar Sahoo.
In a late-night meeting on Monday, Chief Minister Majhi, accompanied by top officials such as the Chief Secretary, DGP, Commissioner of Police, and Accountant General, assured OASA members that those responsible for the attack would face severe legal consequences, regardless of their influence.
Earlier, three suspects had been arrested in connection with the assault, and a manhunt was launched for other individuals involved. The OASA had initially planned a mass leave in protest of the violent act against a government official, but decided to postpone it following the CM’s assurance.
In response to the incident, OASA will hold meetings in all districts to condemn the assault and will send a resolution to the state association. The association has also garnered support from other groups, including the IAS, OFS, and OSS associations. While the CM’s intervention has brought temporary relief, OASA remains committed to ensuring that such incidents are not repeated in the future.
