Bhubaneswar,Feb 23: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced on Friday increased the remuneration for self-employed artisans operating in Gram Panchayats across the state. The current remuneration, set at Rs 4,000, has been raised to Rs 6,500, marking a notable 62.50% increase. This enhancement will directly benefit around 13,000 self-employed mechanics in Odisha.
This decision follows requests and proposals from various volunteer artisans and representatives during the district tours conducted by VK Pandian, Chairman of 5T and Nabin Odisha. After thorough deliberation with the Chief Minister, the decision to augment the salary of self-employed artisans was reached.
Furthermore, in a bid to ensure access to clean drinking water for all villages in the state and to address waterlogging issues, two Swavalambi (self-reliant) artisans are deployed in each village Panchayat. They are entrusted with the crucial responsibilities of ensuring continuous services for piped water supply, as well as the maintenance and repair of tube wells.
