Chhatisgarh, Mar 2: In Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Friday evening, a tragic incident unfolded as a local worker of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Tirupati Katla, was killed by suspected Naxalites. Katla, a member of the Janpad Panchayat, was attending a wedding in Toynar village when the attack occurred, according to sources.
Upon leaving the wedding venue, Katla was ambushed and assaulted with sharp-edged weapons. Despite being rushed to the Bijapur district hospital, he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
Bijapur SP Jitendra Yadav stated, "Investigation into the matter is underway," as reported by PTI.
This unfortunate incident marks the seventh killing of a BJP leader or member by suspected Naxalites in Maoist-affected regions of the state within the past year.
