Jharsuguda, May 22: A noticeable demand for bouncers has been witnessed in Odisha with political parties and candidates seeking to bolster their security cover, especially during campaigning.
Jharsuguda BJD MLA candidate Dipali Das, daughter of slain minister Naba Das, has hired a team of bouncers, including six gunmen, from outside the state far before her poll campaign. Similarly, another team of bouncers has been deployed for the security of her brother and BJD youth leader Vishal Das.
Not only Dipali and Vishal, other close aides of their family have also hired bouncers for personal security after killing of Naba Das.
Similarly, a group of bouncers were engaged by Rourkela BJP MLA candidate Dilip Ray for managing crowd during poll campaign.
Two bouncers were deployed for the security of Raghunathpali BJD MLA candidate of Sundargarh district, Archana Rekha Behera, wife of BJD leader Subrat Tarai during her poll campaign.
BJD's Cuttack Lok Sabha candidate Santrupt Misra is also campaigning along with a cover of bouncers.
BJP's Bhatli candidate Irasis Acharya has hired two bouncers from the very beginning of poll campaign.
A bouncer Promod Martha said they are getting paid Rs 2000 to Rs 3000 per day and Rs 22,000 to 25,000 per month on an average along with food and accommodation.
We manage the crowd during rallies and door to door campaigning of political leaders by temporarily restraining individuals from any misbehave without causing any harm, he added.
