Addressing the Curtain Raiser Press Conference for the 11th Ayurveda Day at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, Jadhav said the growing global focus on preventive healthcare, healthy lifestyles, nutrition, wellness and holistic health has created an opportunity for India to showcase its rich Ayurvedic traditions and experience.
He said Ayurveda Day should not be viewed merely as an occasion to celebrate India’s traditional heritage, but as an opportunity to connect that heritage with the healthcare needs of the future.
Under the vision of Viksit Bharat and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Jadhav stressed the need for a broader approach to healthcare in which health is not limited to treating diseases but also includes healthy habits, balanced nutrition, appropriate daily routines, mental wellbeing and harmony with nature.
According to the press release, Jadhav identified three key areas that will guide this year’s Ayurveda Day campaign.
The first is“Integrative Healthcare for Better Health Outcomes,” which focuses on combining the expertise and strengths of different systems of medicine to improve health outcomes.
The second is“Evidence, Research and Innovation in Ayurveda,” highlighting the importance of scientific evidence, research and innovation for the wider global acceptance and future development of Ayurveda.
The third is“Ayurveda for Community Wellbeing and Sustainable Living,”which seeks to underline Ayurveda’s role in promoting the wellbeing of individuals, families and communities while encouraging sustainable lifestyles.
Jadhav also highlighted the crucial role of the media in providing the public with accurate, evidence-based and easily understandable information about Ayurveda. While noting that Ayurveda enjoys widespread acceptance, he stressed the need to counter misconceptions and ensure that citizens have access to reliable information.
He urged the media to support the campaign and take the message of Ayurveda to homes, schools and colleges, young people including Gen Z, as well as rural and urban communities.
Calling for a stronger connection between India’s traditional knowledge and contemporary healthcare requirements, Jadhav said the campaign should aim to connecttradition with knowledge, knowledge with evidence, evidence with innovation, and innovation with public welfare.
