Bhubaneswar, Oct 22: IIT Bhubaneswar, the State Nodal Institution for Odisha, has invited eligible young innovators to participate in Design for Bharat 2027, a national design challenge organised by the Department of Youth Affairs, Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through MY Bharat under the Viksit Bharat Young Leaders’ Dialogue 2027.

The challenge encourages young minds to develop innovative, tangible design solutions to real-world problems through two tracks: the Open Challenge for novel products, systems and working models, and the Graduation Project Challenge for eligible design projects completed during the academic year 2025–26. The thematic areas include smart agriculture, accessible healthcare, clean energy, sustainable infrastructure, waste management, artisanal tools, and civic utilities.

Indian citizens aged 18–29 years are eligible, subject to the criteria for each track. Participation is free. Selected entries from Odisha will be showcased at IIT Bhubaneswar, with top entries advancing to the national level, where finalists will receive expert mentoring and an opportunity to present their innovations at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.

Last date for applications for the Open Challenge: 31 October 2026. Applicants are advised to check the official portal for updates and details regarding the Graduation Project Challenge.
