Mahindra launches its twin-cylinder XUV 3XO CNG offering exceptional efficiency
Mahindra has officially entered the competitive factory-fitted natural gas segment by launching its XUV 3XO CNG variant at Rs 9.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Bearing the "ZNG" suffix, this new release becomes the brand’s first passenger vehicle to feature built-in CNG since the KUV100. Buyers can now choose from four fuel options within the XUV3XO lineup, joining existing petrol, diesel, and electric configurations. Engineers implemented a clever twin-cylinder storage design for the ZNG model. Both gas tanks rest securely beneath the boot floor. This layout keeps the main luggage area entirely usable, solving a common storage complaint associated with traditional single-tank setups. Furthermore, the spare wheel remains securely mounted underneath the vehicle body. Inside the cabin, drivers get a dedicated fuel-switch button on the dashboard and an updated instrument cluster displaying both fuel levels.
Performance meets efficiency
Powering this compact SUV is a 1.2-litre turbocharged MPFI bi-fuel motor. In gas mode, the vehicle generates 114 hp and 200 Nm of torque. It utilizes a high 10-bar injection pressure, significantly exceeding the standard 5 to 6 bar industry norm. Mahindra reports an impressive fuel efficiency of 24.7 km/kg. Speed enthusiasts will note the car reaches 60 km/h in just 4.9 seconds and 100 km/h in 11.8 seconds. The semi-independent rear suspension was specially retuned to handle the additional hardware weight.
Customers have four trim choices ranging from the base MX Edge ZNG to the top-tier REVX A ZNG at Rs 12.27 lakh. To ensure passenger security, all variants include six airbags, all-four disc brakes, and a reinforced chassis designed to maintain a five-star crash safety standard. Demand for factory-fitted gas vehicles continues to surge across India as buyers seek economical alternatives to rising petrol costs. This launch intensifies competition in the compact SUV segment against established models like Tata Nexon and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
