New Delhi, Sept 21: At a time when Odisha politics warms up over the attack of Bhubaneswar police on an Army Captain and his fiancée inside a City-based police station, it has created a buzz in the All India Congress Committee in New Delhi.
The National Congress on Saturday led by Odisha In-Charge Ajoy Kumar urged the Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi to seek PM Modi’s intervention in the sensitive case wherein an Army Captain and a former Brigadier’s daughter was mercilessly brutalized by the police.
The Congress leaders requested the Army Chief to reach out to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to seek action against the accused Cops in Odisha’s Bhubaneswar who attacked a high-rank army officer and his fiancée in the police staion putting the Captain in the hazzat.
Congress’ Ex-Serviceman Department Chairman Former Colonel Rohit Chaudhary said, the Army officer in Odisha, accompanying his fiancée was manhandled inside the police station and was unlawfully kept in custody for 14 hours.
He underlined it as an attack on the Defence Wing, in a press conference held at the party headquarters. Chaudhary further said that under the Army Act, no Army Officer can be detained aneywhere without any prior notice to the authorites.Thus, the accused cops must be terminated immediately.
