Bhubaneswar, Dec 31: Senior IPS officer, Arun Kumar Sarangi, assumed the charge as Director General of Police (DGP) in-charge on Sunday.
Sarangi took over the charges of the DGP Odisha in the afternoon from outgoing DGP Sunil Bansal.
Sarangi who is working as Special DG of Police Training & Director, BPSPA, will remain in the additional charge of DGP Odisha until the regular DGP joins, said the notification issued by the Department of Home on Saturday.
Before joining the new office at the Police headquarters at Cuttack, Sarangi garlanded the Shaheed statue and was given a guard of honour by a contingent of the Odisha Police. Subsequently, outgoing DGP Sunil Bansal formally handed over the charge at a simple ceremony. Meanwhile, many senior police officers felicitated Sarangi on the occasion.
