Bhubaneswar, Jan 17: As the election is impending, the political dynamics in the Mahakalapada assembly segment are changing fast. The number of aspirants has been manifold in this segment.
Particularly in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the list of contenders for party ticket has been getting longer day by day.
Senior party leader and former minister Bijay Mohapatra is said to be one of the strong contenders for the party ticket. He is trying to strengthen the organization through his confidants and workers. He has also been participating in various programs. Even though he has not been seen active in the party program, he is still in the BJP. The overall situation is now that he is on one side and other BJP leaders on the other side.
Educationist, Bhuban Mohan Jena, the state executive member of the party has also emerged as a contender for the party ticket. He is now active on the ground.
Another aspirant Sanjay Rath, after taking VRS from a central government job, has plunged into local politics. His wife Alka Rath had also contested the election in 2019 here.
On the other hand, BJP leader Bishnu Das has also set his eye to contest election this time.
So, the list of contenders is getting long. Durga Charan Nayak, the nephew of Gandharva Nayak, who was the party candidate in 2019, is also in the race for the party ticket.
Therefore, it is the big question as to who will lead the BJP in the Mahakalapada segment and fight with three time BJD MLA and presently a minister, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, The secenario has not been yet clear.
Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, the cabinet minister has won consecutively 3 times from this seat. He is likely to be the BJD nominee this time too.
