Sundargarh, July 4: At least two people were killed and four others sustained critical injuries after a van was hit by a Hyva truck in Koida area of Odisha's Sundargarh district this morning.
The identities of the deceased persons are yet to be known.
As per reports, the mishap took place near Aryan Chhak at around 8.15 am when the van carrying labourers was on its way to Kamanda Steel Plant. A speeding Hyva coming from the opposite direction crashed into it leading to the death of the van driver and one labourer on the spot. Four others were seriously injured in the accident.
The injured persons were initially rushed to Koida Community Healthcare Centre (CHC) but were later shifted to Rourkela Government Hospital after their health condition showed signs of deterioration.
Upon getting the information, police arrived at the scene and seized the bodies. Subsequently, they were sent for post-mortem.
Further investigation into the matter was underway.
