Chennai, Aug 24: Several young cricketers draw inspiration from former India captain and star batter Virat Kohli's enviable records, his aggression, positive temperament and his never say no approach on field.
Not only cricketers, Kohli also continues to inspire sportsmen from other disciplines as well. The latest to join that long list of sportspersons from Kohli's carer and success is young Bengal table tennis player Ankur Bhattacharjee.
After his victory against Frenchman Lilian Bardet 3-0 (11-8, 11-5, 11-8) at the 5th season of Ultimate Table Tennis on Friday at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, here the 17-year-old from Kolkata revealed that he draws inspiration from Kohli.
Ankur's success formula is based on his balanced aggression and unmatched precision.
Ankur revealed that his aggression was a by-product of following Virat Kohli closely.
Ankur's father Anshuman Bhattacharya, was once a celebrated player in his home state of West Bengal. In the late 80s and early 90s, he represented his state in various junior national championships. He then took up coaching and has been in that role for more than three decades.
Apart from being coached by his father Anshuman, and drawing inspiration from Kohli, Ankur has also immensely benefitted from TT legend Kamlesh Mehta's guidance.
Kamlesh won the national championship eight times. The 64-year-old has seen Ankur’s growth in close proximity and has taught him the tricks of table tennis.
