Bhubaneswar, April 13: In the intriguing political battle unfolding in Odisha’s Dharmasala assembly segment, two candidates from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are fervently campaigning.
The BJP has officially declared Smrutirekha Pahi as their candidate for the Dharmasala assembly seat few days ago. Since then, Smrutirekha has been tirelessly canvassing door-to-door, seeking votes from constituents.
On the other hand, Himansu Sekhra Sahoo, aspiring for the BJP ticket, has also hit the campaign trail in the Dharmasala constituency. He firmly believes that he will secure the party ticket and contest as the BJP candidate in the upcoming election.
Himansu and his supporters assert that the BJP ticket will eventually be withdrawn from Smrutirekha Pahi. The BJP high command has assured them that Himansu will have the opportunity to fight for the Dharmasala assembly seat.
Last week, when the BJP announced Smrutirekha Pahi as their candidate for Dharmasala, Himansu and his followers vehemently opposed the decision.
They staged a demonstration in front of the party headquarters in Bhubaneswar. In response, BJP state president promised to reconsider the matter at the highest party forum. Consequently, Himansu’s supporters withdrew their protest from the party office.
However, uncertainty now hangs over Dharmasala as both factions within the BJP eagerly await the final decision on who will receive the coveted party ticket
