Cuttack, July 16: With an unprecedented feat of bravery, a trolley-rickshaw puller in Odisha’s Cuttack city nabbed a chain snatcher daring the miscreants creating panic with firearms.
May he be poor, but a genius with indomitable physical and mental courage, saved an endangered couple from a life-threating situation facing a challenging situation.
The heroic act of the man living in a slum, jumped off his trolley- rickshaw, chased a gang of robbers and caught hold of the kingpin, while escaping with a gold-necklace, snatched from an elderly woman’s neck in full public view.
However, the victim woman, identified as Sobhagya Ranjani Pradhan, a native of Rajendra Nagar in the Cuttack City and her spouse were seriously injured after two bike-borne miscreants snatched the gold chain at gunpoint from the woman’s neck near Chhatra Bazaar Canal Road, on Wednesday.
According to sources, the robbers attempted to snatch the woman’s chain by threatening the duo with pistols. Meanwhile,the rickshaw-puller who was drawing his trolley on the same way, got notice of the incident. Seeing the robber’s bid, he swung for helping the couple and chased after the robbers sounding alarm and leaving his cart behind.
Subsequently, he was backed by the locals who handed over the snatcher with pistol & live rounds, to police with a black & blue treat.
