New Delhi, January 26: Actor R Madhavan, one of the 131 individuals honoured with Padma Awards in 2026, has expressed that the recognition is not merely an award but a significant responsibility. The actor vowed to uphold the honour with "dignity, sincerity, and a deep sense of commitment."

Madhavan was conferred the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, in recognition of his remarkable contributions to Indian cinema.

In his statement, Madhavan conveyed, "I accept the Padma Shri with profound gratitude and humility. This honour, which surpasses my wildest dreams, is not just mine but belongs to my entire family, whose unwavering support and faith have been my greatest strength."
